The Hunter's guide to Werewolves

Myths

  • Silver Bullets: Silver Bullets aren't the myth they are made to be. Werewolves are seriously allergic to silver, and therefore lodging a bullet made of silver into the body and bloodstream of a werewolf will have a massive effect, usually death within a minute. Other silver-tipped weapons -arrows, daggers, pens, etc- have the same effect if they contact blood, but bullets are safest, as you can shoot from afar and not have the werewolf ripping your throat out the next second.
  • Wolfsbane: Werewolves aren't affected by holy items, such are vampires, but are weak against wolfbane and tend to keep away. Awerewolf in human form will not be repelled by wolfsbane as it has no effect on them in human form, but instead may choose not to ingest it because the closer to their Shifting, the more of a stomach ache they will recieve. If wolfsbane is still in a human's system when they Shift into werewolf form, it will have grave concequences.
  • Iron over the head: This myth has been told to make a werewolf turn into its human form if an iron object is thrown over its head. This is partially true, as werewolves are allergic to silver, and silver and iron have similar molecular structures. Iron has been proven to have no reaction if in the bloodstream of a werewolf, as silver does, but it does indeed trigger a sort of reverse effect of a Shifting if thrown over the head.

Shifting

  • Werewolves Shift forms every full moon.
  • Like vampires, they have the ability to change back at will before the full moon sets, but they must first remain in their Shifted form for ten minutes before changing back.
  • On the days just before and after a full moon, a werewolf's eye markings (If any) will begin to appear around their eyes. Usually they are unnoticable by humans, but other werewolves are keen to them, as are certain vampires that possess markings, too. Werewolf hunters who have the natural werewolf hunting bloodlines in them are able to sometimes detect markings when they appear and use this to find werewolves.

Bites

  • Werewolves can inject the venom nessecary for turning another human into a werewolf at will. It is their choice whether they want to pass down the ability or not when they bite.
  • The Werewolf venom from a bite can be extracted by applying wolfsbane over the open wound within ten minutes of recieving the bite. The werewolf must still be in shifted form otherwise it won't work.
  • The bite must draw blood for the venom to take effect, although there have been some rare cases in which 'half-bitten' humans have drawn in enough venom for them to become 'half-werewolves'. These humans are not dangerous and can not pass on a bite, but they shift partway every full moon.
